UC: Serving California's Communities
More Info
The UC Office of the President (UCOP) has teamed with the Geographic Information Science Center of UC Berkeley (GISC) to proudly present the University of California 's own online program tracking system, based on the latest web-based geographic information systems technology. With just a few mouse clicks, any user can easily find one of the UC's current programs. Easy to navigate, quick to learn, and extensive enough for experienced GIS users, the program tracking system is a highly effective tool. Whether you are just trying to find a local program or you are generating maps for an upcoming draft proposal, the UC's GIS-based system can help you make that deadline…or just find that after-school program you've been looking for.
The University of California 's map room hosts information on all programs that the UC sponsors throughout the state. Innovative programs from agricultural research advice for local farmers to college preparation in public high schools, the UC has a direct influence on every California community. With its campuses, medical centers, national laboratories and programs around the state, the UC is dedicated to serving California 's communities.
System Features
- The mapping system is available through any Internet Explorer or Netscape compliant web-browser.
- In three easy steps users can find their desired programs based on geographic location and program type.
- Details of programs (address, contact, hours of operation, website) are available through the ‘identify' tool.
- To serve our various types of users, programs can be found through different geographic areas based on city, county, or even political district boundaries.
- Experienced users can choose to display their own map layers. These include highways and natural geography in addition to UC programs and base geography.
- A straightforward ‘print' tool helps you customize maps for your own project!!
In addition to the online mapping system, individual printable maps were produced for reports to every elected representative (US Senate & Representative, and State Assembly & State Senate). These are available here.
