EPA Region 9 OpportunityEPA Region 9 is seeking a talented and motivated individual to lead the integration of geospatial technologies into the various workflows of the U.S. EPA Region 9 Air Division (planning, facility permitting, enforcement, grant programs, etc.). Duties require excellent interpersonal communication and leadership skills, as well as desire to execute the Division's geospatial strategy. Candidate will be primarily responsive to the Air Division's geovisualization, spatial analysis and cartographic production needs, but also active as a liason to the Region 9 GIS Center, the Division's representative on the Region 9 GIS Workgroup, and in general leveraging the Agency's GIS resources for the benefit of the Air Division. Candidate must also be able to offer high quality support and training for Air Division staff and assist with implementing a Region-wide enterprise GIS. Skills sought include experience in the use of ESRI ArcGIS 9.1 or 9.2, geovisualization software (especially virtual globes like Google Earth and NASA World Wind), creation and mangement of spatial and relational databases, high quality cartographic production and graphic design (including Adobe Illustrator/photoshop). Programming skills not neccessary but valuable. A background in air quality, atmospheric sciences and/or Federal environmental policy is a plus, with emphasis on the Clean Air Act and emerging climate change issues. Sean P. Hogan, |
