GIS in the Administration

An initial collaboration between the GISC and campus administration began in 1998 with preliminary work on a GIS for the UC Berkeley Campus by members of the Planning, Design & Construction Department, now Capital Projects.

There are many potential applications for this technology within the campus administration including facilities management, Coordinated Resource Management Program planning and evaluation of the success of access and equity programs in incoming student cohorts. GISC will provide technical and consulting assistance in these areas.

As an initial effort to promote the idea of a Campus GIS, Katherine Mortimer, Senior Planner at Capital Projects, prepared a slideshow to be presented to senior members of the campus administration in early 2000. This slideshow can be viewed at this link.
