UCGIS Summer Assembly Information

UCGIS Delegates-

The UCGIS Summer Assembly is scheduled for June 27-28 in Yellowstone National Park, at the Lake Yellowstone Hotel Cabins and Lake Lodge Cabins.Detailed information is included in the following paragraphs. Lodging is extremely limited in the park, and the UCGIS rooms are about the only ones left; therefore we are recommending that you call in your reservation as
soon as possible. Once our block of rooms is filled, there will be no options within the Park.

1. The first formal session for the Assembly will begin on Wednesday morning, June 27, at 9 a.m. and the final session, the Council meeting, will
end at 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 28. Rooms are available for the nights of June 26, 27 and 28, with a few rooms set aside on Monday evening, June 25 for anyone who wants to arrive early.

2. The nearest airports, Cody, Wyoming [COD] and Jackson Hole, Wyoming [JAC] are 80-100 miles from the lake; Bozeman, Montana [BZN] is around 120 miles. All Teton/Yellowstone roads have restricted speed limits. West Yellowstone, Montana [WYS] is another option, with less frequent flights.

3. There is a choice of Lake Lodge Cabins or Lake Yellowstone Hotel Cabins. Following are National Park Service descriptions for both:

Lake Lodge Cabins (nearest the Lodge where we will hold our meetings)

Western Cabins -- $137.80 per night (tentative)
"Motel style units built in modules of 4 or 6. Each is spacious and modernly furnished with private bathrooms equipped with shower or tub/shower, toilet and sink. Typically includes two beds."

Lake Yellowstone Hotel Cabins (nearest Lake Yellowstone Hotel, but walking distance from Lodge)
http://www.travelyellowstone.com/lake-yellowstone-hotel-cabins-94.html

Frontier Cabins -- $115.54 per night (tentative)
"Built in the 1920's but completely remodeled in 2003/04, these simple, comfortable duplex units are clustered near the hotel."

4. Reserve your cabin room through the following special events telephone number (for the UCGIS block of rooms you cannot use any of the toll-free
numbers):307-344-5566, between 8 am and 5 p.m. Mountain Time, daily. Your credit card will be charged a deposit, nonrefundable 30 days prior to arrival. Room rates are tentative until the National Park Service confirms them in April. Our room block will be held until March 25, but we expect all rooms will be reserved well before that date.

5. General information on Yellowstone National Park can be found at http://www.travelyellowstone.com

6. Registration for the conference and payment of the registration fee can be completed at a date closer to the Assembly.
