Census 2000 Redistricting Data Summary File State population counts for race and Hispanic or Latino categories.. These files originate from the US Census Bureau. The GISC has added value to the original state files in flat ASCII format by splitting the state file into manageable county level files. The data has been extracted for two summary levels: census tract and and census block and can be directly linked to the 2000 TIGER files using a relate item existing in both TIGER and the summary files (Stfid). Each summary level will require downloading two files (File01 and File02) to access the full data set. For a data dictionary explaining the structure and contents of the files, please refer to document http://www.census.gov/prod/www/abs/pl94-171.pdf. Information on field definititions are available in chapter 7. For additional information on how the files were processed, refer to the Making Sense of Census 2000 (pages 4-8), article from Business Solution News, Volume 3, 2001, ESRI Click here to access the Census 2000 redistricting Files.
